The Origins of Adaptiv

In 2020, “Adaptiv Sports” was born from a simple motivation: the world’s most innovative adaptive equipment was far too difficult for people to actually find and try.

We wanted make the best adaptive equipment accessible to all & to bridge the gap between world-class engineering and the people who need it. Prior to Jacks Spinal injury our background was in the cycle industry. We rode professionally and recreationally, so it made sense that our initial heartbeat was found in the world of adaptive cycling. We launched with a curated focus on performance, bringing together a line up of machinery designed to push boundaries:

Humble Beginnings: The Shed

Every great story has a starting point. For us, Adaptiv Sports began in the most literal sense as a “grassroots” operation, running out of a shed in Jack’s garden.

It was small, it was cramped, but it was the engine room where our vision for a more accessible world began to take shape.

A New Chapter: Adaptiv Mobility

After 5 years of working from our home workshop, we are thrilled to announce that we have now officially opened the doors to our brand-new, dedicated showroom and workshop in Blandford Forum.

With our physical expansion comes a reflection of our future – we changed our name from Adaptiv Sports to Adaptiv Mobility.

While our passion for high-performance adaptive sports equipment remains, this new identity better reflects our growing commitment to comprehensive daily living solutions and the full spectrum of mobility, not just bikes.

As our team includes wheelchair users, we understand that mobility equipment is never “one size fits all.” We know how vital it is for clients and clinicians to test equipment in a real-world, supportive environment.
