Posture. Comfort. Performance.
With a vast background in clinical practice and decades of combined wheelchair user experience...
We focus on three main objectives:
Posture: Sitting in the correct position significantly reduces the risk of pain & pressure-related issues. Good seating health helps promotes an active lifestyle, positively impacting your overall well-being.
Comfort: Feeling comfortable boosts confidence, helping you achieve an active lifestyle with a reduced likelihood of prolonged discomfort, pain, or persistent injuries.
Performance: You and your wheelchair work in complete harmony. Reducing the energy needed to propel, maximising efficiency and unlocking your full potential.

Why Wheelchair Fit Really Matters
Finding the right wheelchair isn’t as straightforward as it seems. If you’ve ever felt like the standard options just aren’t cutting it, you’re in good company.
Many wheelchair users face the frustration of limited choices and poor fit. The wrong wheelchair can seriously affect your comfort and mobility. Let’s take a closer look at some of the challenges you might encounter with typical wheelchair assessments.
Typical Measurements: Have you ever felt restricted by one-size-fits-all wheelchair options? You’re not alone! Around 80-90% of wheelchair users don’t find a proper fit with configurable standard sizes.
Restricted Choices: Some wheelchairs lack versatility and can limit your ability to stay active. Basic designs with few options might not cater to your individual needs.
Bulky Materials: Not all wheelchairs are designed for efficiency. Some use cumbersome materials and have a modular design, making them heavy and requiring more effort to push, manoeuvre, and lift.
The Solution: Getting the Fit Right
At Adaptiv Mobility, we view wheelchair fitting as a process of tailoring – carefully balancing postural requirements while ensuring the finished wheelchair remains as minimal, light, and efficient as possible. The goal is a wheelchair that fits precisely, supports the body properly, and avoids unnecessary bulk or complexity.
Personalised Measurements:
We begin by taking detailed measurements of both you and your current wheelchair to establish a clear baseline. This allows us to identify what works, what doesn’t, and how to build a solution that genuinely fits your individual needs.
Posture-Focused Choices:
From there, we assess your seating and postural requirements in detail. We draw from a wide range of postural solutions – from simple, breathable upholstery, subtle integrated lateral supports, through to complex custom seating provided by Consolor for more complex postural requirements. Supporting posture is always the first priority in wheelchair provision.
Tailored Chassis Setup:
Finally, we tailor the chosen wheelchair chassis itself. By refining frame geometry and tapering angles, we ensure the wheelchair follows the natural contours of your body – resulting in a clean, minimal setup that feels supportive without being overbearing.
